Amazing right. I know you were worried. I walked two whole blocks back and forth on Clay Street after the sun went down too! On top of all the extreme walking I did, Aunt Jemima came through again and again has served as a deterrent of the entreprenuerial spirit.
All the jokes aside though, there was an interesting development in Annapolis today. A few years ago, back in 2002, there was a brutal car jacking over in the historic district which is a few blocks from Clay in the predominantly white part of town. The car jacking wound up deadly the man who's jeep cherokee was stolen was shot in the head and killed, then his body was driven over by his own jeep. Ugly, real ugly.
The killer was sentenced to life in prison today. The killer used to live on Clay Street.
It can happen. It serves as a reminder to me, keep my eyes out. Even though things have been getting less hectic on Clay for the last 5 years it can still happen.
Who's with me back here?

Does anyone else in this city beside the African Americans know that Mr. Griffins was a customer of their killer? Oh, its true, but some people are not going to want to hear that...
Yes, I did hear that rumor. Can't say that I am surprised either, I didn't know either men personally, however I am very familliar with the amount of illegal drug use in the area.
I am a bit lost on this one, perhaps you could expand a bit? I for one will put it out that I am an alcoholic. Not a drug addict, an alcoholic. I have been sober since January 7, 2001. I spent time in AA all around Annapolis, from the Red House to St.Phillips, to Young Peoples on Conduit Street. A big credit for my sobriety goes to Les Sturm over at Pathways in Annapolis, he helped me believe that there was life after sobriety. In fact my first introduction to Clay Street came from many of the people that I met in "the rooms". They all told tales of making acquisitions from the entreprenuers back here.
Don't get it twisted, I AM A LOT OF FUN AT PARTIES. In fact I have toured from North America to Eastern Europe completely sober. Rocked stages in front of people that didn't speak a word of English, spent time in pubs and clubs where drugs and alcohol were very present, I just didn't do it.
So, don't be afraid to have a drink in front of me and ask me about my experiences on Clay Street when you see me downtown.
I AM A ADDICT THAT CAN TELL YOU MR GRIFFITH AND OTHER SO CALLED HIGHER UP PEOPLE IN ANNAPOLIS USE CRACK AND WILL RENT THEIR VEHICLES TO YOUNG DEALERS SO YOU DO THE MATH
I agree with last writer. All those so call bigwigs and sitting up there smoking (crack) and telling us in there next breath don't do it.
Whether Mr. Griffin or anybody else used drugs in the past does not justify the killing of that man. Nothing does. Nobody should even spread such rumors unless they can back them up. Mr. Griffin was also a member of the yacht club and sponsored many kids from public housing by giving them free sailing lessons and much more.
And many congratulations to Timm for being a member of AA, I myself have been a member for 8 years now. It saved my life. There is life after alcohol and drugs.
Why is it that everybody that commits a crime or does drugs uses an excuse for their bad or criminal behavior.
You alone are responsible for your own actions.
And especially people in public housing use the same old excuses for that. It's so much easier to put the blame on another person or another race than to take a good look at yourself.
Time to take responsibility for your own actions in life.
