The Clay Street Social Club

Okay...in the words of Slick Rick "heeerrreee we go!"

Now, I have been taking meetings and exploring the possibilities of mobilizing some sort of outdoor concert idea in time for September and my spidey sense is telling me bad idea. Here's why. First, the hoops we are going to have to hop to get it done are going to create a time lag and time is what we need. Plus, in my experience as a concert promoter it is not advisable to kick off something on a weekly basis and hope that you can kick up enough steam from week to week in order to see things to success. Now add the fact that I am looking at a lot of the responsiblity falling on my shoulders and the time that it will take to implement this event successfully and safely I think the timing is poor.

BUT, if the door is closed you use the window right? Okay, so follow me on this I am today introducing to the world the CLAY STREET SOCIAL CLUB. This is going to be a group of people, volunteers needed from either side of West Street, and we will get together and appropriately plan and hold events on a regular basis in and around the Clay Street area. Now I have a meeting that I have to get to by 630pm and it is 626pm so, let me get back with all the details tonight but, I wanted to make sure I updated everyone as soon as possible.

Peace and respect once again to everyone who has been logging on, leaving comments, putting forward ideas, and basically just making this a community.

Let me know if you need help on this, I'd be happy to help.

I believe you should make noise in order to address the lack of Affordable Housing in this corrupt county. If you got money honey you matter. If you don't it'sd all your fault--just ask your neighborhhood Republican.

No affordable housing--no peace.

It is time for the service workers of Annapolis to rise up and be heard. Make some noise for a livable wage---that would require only about $50,000 a year in AA county. How much does the mayor make ?

It's time to rise up and get paid people.

Count me in the social club on Clay street. That way I will not have to climb very far. Seriously, I think your blog is the in thing in Annapolis. I just happen to live on Clay street and finally can talk to someone whose eyes will not pop out when I say my address.
When are the meetings?

Of course let me start with the mandatory thank you. The fact that each of you have taken a moment to log on and state your case is a move in the right direction. Further, its great to hear so many people looking to help with getting a few events planned. I am just waiting on the Stanton Center to find when the best time would be to utilize one of their meeting facilities and we will be ready to roll with a first official meeting.

The lack of affordable housing is a BIG question and it has an equally BIG answer. I do have to run but, I promise to log on and shed some light as to what is really going on and some ways to protect yourselves in the new global economy.

Peace, respect, and keep it moving.

Again I am bouncing around but, really want to address this question of affordable housing and why things are getting more difficult for the working class. Some required reading is "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. This was a NY Times bestseller, it dives deep into how fast the the economies of the world are moving together very Pangea-like.

The idea of the world flattening is part of the reason why we have seen a stifling of wages and the increased gap between the rich and poor in the United States. We are in the age of information and to be locked out for any period of time is a crime.

Education has always been very important but, now in our country it has become even more important perhaps as much as ten fold more important. As more jobs that were once done here domestically shift to other parts of the world as a result of more incredible levels of specialization there will create a vaccum of both opportunity and difficulty. The ability to adapt and understand will have greater importance.

I promise to get more in detail about these statements that I am making I am just very pressed for time.

Peace,
Timm
